A 6-foot-9 power forward, Granger has come into his junior campaign 20 pounds lighter than last season, and says his toughness has been his best asset.
“My biggest strength is my mobility up and down the court and also my physicality; I’m a really tough player. I played football my entire life up until freshman year, and that’s kind of impacted how I play,” said Granger.
Now an upperclassmen, Granger, in addition to being lighter and more athletic, says his leadership role has grown considerably. That’s a role he’s embraced.
“Now that I’m a junior, me and Mitch Ganote are the main scorers on the team and the two main leaders on the team. We both like that role and we accept that role,” said Granger.
“I was always looking up to other people and asking a lot of questions last year, and just taking everything in. Now, I’m at the head of the team and telling people what to do and how to do things right. So, I think being a leader is the biggest thing for me since last year.”
When his junior season is finished, he’ll head right into a 17U campaign. It’s a spring and summer when Granger could see his recruitment ramp up considerably.
Mount St. Mary’s and Siena have already offered the physical big-man, and he has strong interest from many other D1 schools.
Granger went to a Georgia Tech basketball game earlier this week for an unofficial visit. He also mentioned Tennessee State and William & Mary have been showing strong interest.
“I’m going to sit down and I’m going to find 8-12 schools that I really feel interested in and that I really like,” said Granger. “And my goal will be to earn an offer this AAU season from everyone of those schools.”
