At 6’3, Headley has good size, is always looking to attack the rim and is capable scoring inside the arc. And, when he can’t score, Headley is capable of finding an open teammate.
He spent the offseason competing for Kansas MTXE and says the experience helped prepare him for his senior season.
“Coach Pearson expects nothing but our maximum effort which has carried over into my high school season,” Headley said. “I worked on my ability to productively finish at the rim with my off hand.”
Off to a 6-6 start, Clearwater is hoping to finish out the season strong as Headley is leading the team in rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.“Our team’s chemistry has significantly improved this year allowing us to win more games,” Headley says.
Headley says his parents have had the biggest impact on his basketball career to date.
“They taught me that if I worked hard than I would be successful,” he said. “This mentality has allowed me to continue to be successful in basketball.”
A Kansas fan, Headley says he grew up rooting for the Jayhawks.I’ve grown up watching KU basketball,” he says. “They play at such a high intensity which is something I try to match in my own games.”
Although he currently does not hold any offers, Headley says he has heard from several NAIA level college programs, including McPherson, Doane, Southwestern and Friends, among others.
