The mobile 6-foot-6, 180-pound junior cut his teeth on big time competition during the summer months with International Elite in AAU play and it’s paid off so far this year at Sherwood High School. Jensen has been able to post some good games for the Bowmen and is hopeful his continued development helps his team win a league title.
“I think I’ve been improving and it’s been fun,” Jensen said. “Crashing the boards helps with the offense and helps me gets more points.”
Jensen showed off some of his rapid development at the Les Schwab Invitational “The Eight” event. In their first game, a win over Westview, he posted a then-varsity career high 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting, and he ended up averaging 10.0 points and 3.7 rebounds shooting a robust 68.4 percent from the field. During the tournament he showed a good ability to get into spots where he could be effective and also a great touch around the basket.
As he continues to develop his perimeter shooting, Jensen hopes to capture the attention of college coaches. At this early stage he’s keeping everything wide open. “I don’t know right now,” Jensen said. “I’m think I’m just going to keep going with what I’m doing and if colleges are interested, we’ll see what happens from there.”
The Bowmen are now at the start of Pacific League play and Jensen is ready to contribute. “I think we should do really good especially in our new league – we want to make a big impact in it,” Jensen said. “I think we could compete for the top spot in the league. I want to get more rebounds especially on the offensive boards and also get more aggressive in the post, call for the ball more.”
Jensen currently ranks as the #43 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
