Holy Family junior Dominic “Dom” Nellis knows better than anyone where he stands.

Nellis is a 5-foot-7 basketball player. But he’s one heck of a 5-foot-7 basketball player.

The starting point guard for the No. 3-ranked team in Colorado’s Class 4A, Nellis is also, “tougher than a two-dollar steak,” according to Tigers head coach Pete Villecco. His toughness combined with his natural ability and energy, and an uncommon awareness of his weaknesses and willingness to improve them, could make Nellis an intriguing prospect by the time he’s done with high school ball.
