If he weren’t, he wouldn’t be a starter and a valuable contributing member of this year’s No. 3-ranked Holy Family team. But Jolly may not know just how good he is, or at least could be.
More specifically, is the Holy Family senior college basketball good? Could Jolly be in line for a late offer as an unsigned and basically unrecruited senior?
Holy Family head coach Pete Villecco thinks Jolly has a shot.
“Right now, he’s just looking at schools,” Villecco said. “He’s improved so much and he just hasn’t explored playing at the next level. I’m not even sure he knows it’s an option for him. He’s definitely got talent and I think there might be a fit for him at the next level.”
A starting forward on one of Colorado’s best teams, Jolly is 6-foot-5, 200 pounds and athletic as a big man. He has a solid feel for the game and knows how to play well off the ball. This season, he is averaging 10.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and one block per game while competing for stats and opportunities with talented teammate Kyle Helbig, who will play football at Colorado State next year.
Earlier this week, he was 8 for 10 from the field and led all scorers with 19 points without turning the ball over in a 73-31 win over Frederick.
Jolly’s combination of size, skill and athleticism adds a welcome dynamic to one of the top teams in Colorado. Whether or not he will add a dynamic to a collegiate program in the future remains to be seen.
