The top four teams in the District go to the playoffs. Let’s take a midpoint peek as to how things are shaping up. This is the UIL 4A Playoff Push of Greater Houston.
District 21
Playoff Push:
- Splendora (1-0) / 20-4
- Hargrave (1-0) / 14-3
- Livingston (1-0) / 15-13
- Shepard (0-1) / 13-12
Ranked Teams:
MVP Candidates:
- Ryan Harrell 6’5 F / 2019 / Shepard is averaging 17.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. Does it all for his team. Physical with nice touch around the rim. He shoots 58% from the field.
- Jacob Harvey 5’11 PG / 2021 / Hargrave is averaging 20.9 points per game. Deep ball dead eye. Corner specialist. This prospect can shoot the ball. He also gets his teammates involved in the game. Plays solid on ball defense. He was awarded New Comer of the year and first team district.
- Ty Broussard 6’0 SG / 2019 / Splendora is averaging 11.9 points per game and bringing in 6.5 rebounds per game. Though scrappy player provides the senior leadership that the team needs.
District 22
Playoff Push:
- Silsbee (4-0) / 15-6
- Hardin-Jefferson (4-1) / 17-8
- Lumberton (3-1) / 16-12
- West Orange-Stark 2-2 / 13-12
Ranked Teams:
- Silsbe #3
- Hardin-Jefferson #19.
MVP Candidates:
- Terron Brown 6’6 F / 2019 / West Orange-Stark is averaging 20.8 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game. Plays with great energy and is active the entire game. He is athletic and has bounce. Plays solid on the defensive end of the ball.
- Jordyn Adams 6’4 SG / 2019 / Silsbee is averaging 20.9 points per game and 6 rebounds per game. Is having a good senior campaign. The Austin Peay commit is leading the charge for his team. He was also last season Co-MVP of the District.
- Devon McCain 6’4 WG / 2019 / Silsbee is averaging 18.8 points per game and 8 rebounds per game. He is a very physical wing that gets it done. Like his teammate, he is also a Austin Peay commit. Shared Co-MVP of the District last season.
District 23
Playoff Push:
- Yates (5-0) / 14-4
- Wheatley (5-0) / 12-3
- Washington (3-2) / 13-6
- North Forest (2-3) / 8-6
- Furr (2-3) / 11-10
- Worthington (2-3) / 5-10

MVP Candidates:
- Albert Wilson 6’0 PG / 2020 / Wheatley is averaging 17.6 points per game. Albert is the anchor for his team. Though he only stands 6’0 tall he is the leader in every category for his team.
- Bobby Betts 6’0 G / 2019 / Washington is averaging 17.3 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game. Vocal leader for his squad. Gets to the rim for the easy bucket. Leads the team in rebounding also.
- JoQuarius Valrie 6’3 WG / 2019 / Yates is averaging 21.7 points per game. Some people would call him a sleeper. He made all district second team last year, and was a top scorer last year for Yates. He is athletic. Has crazy bounce with a quick second jump. Can shoot the ball from deep. Take his man off the dribble.
- Rubin Jones 6’4 PG / 2020 / Yates is averaging 17.5 points per game and 5.8 assist per game. Is a great teammate to have and a good floor general. Gets his teammates involved in the game. Plays scrappy defense. Rebounds the ball. Scores at all levels.
- Antwon Norman 6’0 SG / 2020 / Yates is averaging 23.9 points per game. Shoots the ball well from deep. Moves great without the ball in his hands. Active hands on defense. Scrappy on ball defender.
District 24
Playoff Push:
- Bay City (1-0) / 14-8
- La Marque (1-0) / 15-11
- Sweeny (0-1) / 11-12
- Columbia (0-1) / 7-13

MVP Candidates:
- Cameron Ward 6’3 SG / 2020 / Columbia is averaging 23 points per game. He shoots the ball well from deep. Plays solid on ball defense. Plays with a good motor.
- Anthony Perry 6’2 G / 2019 / Bay City is averaging 18.8 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game. Plays about every position for his high school team. He gets in the paint to rebound the ball. Plays good defense. Scores the ball well in the lane.
- Jordan Ivy-Curry 6’2 PG / 2020 / La Marque is averaging 22.8 points per game. Gets to the lane and finishes at a high rate. Shoots the ball well from behind the arc. Plays good on ball defense. Gets after the 50/50 balls. Plays with confidence and gets the job done.
District 25

- Sealy (3-1) / 13-3

MVP Candidates:
- Demari Williams PG / 2021 / Fulshear is averaging 17.5 points per game. Is having a great sophomore campaign this year. In District play he is averaging 20.2 points per game. Attacks the lane. Can create his own shot and for his teammates. Plays good on ball defense.
- Micah Glover 6’0 G / 2020 / Royal is averaging 20.7 points per game. Gets to the rim easy. Though his team doesn’t have an impressive record he is still a player to keep an eye out on. He is shooting the ball well from the floor and behind the arc.
- Chris Grace 6’0 SG / 2019 / Needville is averaging 21 points per game. He is a deep ball specialist. Always knocks down the big shots. Plays with a good motor. Has improved ball handling and playing the point.
