TAPPS Teams/Players to watch
Bishop Lynch / Record: 27–4
Team Preview: Bishop Lynch has really overachieved this season and has exceeded everyone’s expectations. They have played really well together and despite being a private school, they have won games against some of the best public schools in the state of Texas. Bishop Lynch is in one of the toughest divisions in TAPPS 6A, which features private school powerhouses, Concordia Lutheran and Antonian Prep.
Players to watch:
Imo Essien / 6’0 / PG / Bishop Lynch / 2020
Essien is a heady point guard that knows how to make things happen with the ball in his hands. Essien plays with multiple gears and has a tight handle that he uses to dribble past defenders. Essien has emerged as one the best point guards in his class.
Jake Milkereit / 6’4 / SG / Bishop Lynch / 2020
Milkereit is a good shooter with great size for position and confidence. Milkereit can shoot it off the catch or off the dribble. He has shot the ball really well this year and several division one universities have now offered him as a result.
Concordia Lutheran / Record: 30-1
Team Preview: Concordia Lutheran like their record has been close to perfect this season. They have really been dominant and it would be somewhat of a shocker if Concordia Lutheran doesn’t win the TAPPS 6A championship.
Players to watch:
Pierce Hellums / 6’3” / SG / Concordia Lutheran / 2019
Hellums is a versatile shooter that can create his own shot off the bounce, or come off of screens and hit jumpers off the catch.
Montavious Murphy / 6’8” / PF / Concordia Lutheran / 2020
Murphy is a versatile forward that can score from inside and outside. He is a strong rebounder that uses his athleticism and length when crashing the boards.
Grace Prep / Record : 16-2
Team Preview: Grace Prep has been probably the most surprising team on this list. They are a tough team that loves to pressure you on the defensive end. Grace Prep is my prediction to win the TAPPS 4A title this year.
Player to watch:
Evan Mccarthy / 5’9” / SG / Grace Prep / 2020
Mccarthy is a sniper that doesn’t take long to get his shot off. Mccarthy is a capable ball handler that can get past defenders and hit floaters over bigs.
