Robert Whaley better known as Boyboy of Bountiful High School is also starting to get comparisons to Zion. Now, don’t get us wrong, we are in no way comparing Robert to Zion but they both are big bodied players and do things other players their size can’t do.
Robert started to go viral off of a in game windmill dunk he had off of a steal. Sound familiar.
Boyboy is only a sophomore and is one of the best 2021 players in the state With his ability to do much more than just score. The crazy thing about it, is that he is still raw.
In his sophomore campaign he is putting up great numbers. 16 points per game, 7 rebounds per game and 2 assist per game. He’s only hit one three-pointer this year but I’m assuming that’s next on the list of things he wants to improve.
Last summer Boyboy really put some work in to help his game, but the thing that stood out was that he started to take care of his body more.
Robert grew up playing both football and basketball but decided to give up football in 8th grade. He still gets asked about playing football on the regular.
When you see a kid with his stature and size you can’t blame a coach for trying. Roberts has a simple mindset. “I just want to be better.”
Although Robert has been playing well and has scored more than 20 points in 7 games he says players and coaches still doubt him. “I feel like they don’t think I’m mature enough yet knowing this was my first year in high school and my skill because I put in a lot of work this summer.”
Well, That work is paying off. Bountiful is a legit 5A contender and “Baby Zion aka. Boyboy” is starting to turn a lot of heads.
We think Robert could be a Division 1 type talent even though he is still young and raw, he possesses the skills college coaches are looking for.
We want to wish Robert and his teammates good luck the rest of the way.
