The career milestone he hit as a senior on Friday night proves that.
With 22 points in a 55-32 win over Estes Park, Becker surpassed the 1,000-point plateau as a prep basketball player. He scored another 19 against The Vanguard School on Saturday night and now has scored 1,025 points in his career.
Becker, a 6-foot-9 forward, boasts a 16.8 career scoring average and has spread out his scoring fairly evenly throughout the past three seasons.
As a sophomore, Becker scored 342 points. As a junior, he put up 371. Both seasons, he played in 23 games.
Through 15 games in 2018-19, Becker has thus far poured in 312 points for an average of 20.8 points a night. He’s 19th in Colorado, scoring-wise, and is seventh in Class 3A. He also averages 11.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.2 blocks per game as a senior.
Becker has scored 30 or more points three times this season, with a season-high 32 points coming against Weld Central on Dec. 4.
Platte Valley failed to advance past the first round of last year’s 3A state tournament despite entering the bracket as the No. 4 seed. As long as Becker keeps playing the way he has, the Broncos from Kersey, Colo., should be able to improve on that finish this winter.
