O’Fallon Shootout Preview
In this article:
The 2019 Bank of O’Fallon Shootout is this upcoming Friday and Saturday at O’Fallon High School. This has quickly become one of the must attend annual events for basketball fans across the state. The field this year is once again stacked with talented teams from the metro east, central Illinois, Chicago, St. Louis, and Iowa.
Two state powers from the Chicago Public League Simeon and Whitney Young will make the trip down. Simeon is led by their senior backcourt of Kejuan Clements and Antonio Reeves. Their two best prospects however are their freshman center AJ Casey and freshman point guard Jaylen Drane who should debut as the #1 and #2 players in the state. Also they have one of the best guards in the sophomore class Ahamad Bynum. Whitney Young features one of the premier backcourts in the state with top unsigned senior shooting guard Myles Baker to go along with the #2 and #3 juniors in the state DJ Steward and Tyler Beard.
Central Illinois squads Springfield Southeast and Springfield Lanphier will each bring talented squads. Southeast is a 3A state title contender led by Chicago State commit Terrion Murdix. Lanphier has elite shot blocker and high flying senior Karl Wright along with highly touted freshman guard Tye Banks.
From the metro east Belleville West will play twice. The defending 4A state champs have the top senior and reigning Mr. Basketball in EJ Liddell. The Ohio State commit has plenty of help with Keith Randolph inside and Lawrence Brazil on the perimeter. Alton is another team that has impressed so far this season with their dynamic wing duo of Donovan Clay and Malik Smith. Collinsville features one of the top junior point guards in the state Ray’Sean Taylor.
The two out of state teams are stacked with talent. CBC is a traditional St. Louis powerhouse who have the #1 junior in Missouri point guard Caleb Love along with unsigned senior post Josh Wallace. Iowa City West is one of the premier teams in Iowa which features Iowa Hawkeyes commit Patrick McCaffery who is the #2 player in the senior class. Junior post Even Brauns is another high major prospect to watch.
