The first year event featured 3 games with teams from the Upstate/Lower State. All the teams in the event are in the smallest classification in the Palmetto State.
Williston-Elko HS 52 Creek Bridge HS 47
The Blue Devils made 1 hour 45 minute drive from Barnwell County. The Blue Devils faced a feisty group of Warriors from Marion County in the Pee Dee. The Blue Devils were led in scoring by Tyleek Broxton with 16 points. Desmond Murray added 15 points and Javier Rudolph chipped in 14 points.
The Warriors were led in scoring by Kychlem Crawford with 12 points and Ron Stackhouse added 10 points.
High Point Academy 71 Hemingway HS 59
The Grizzlies from Spartanburg pulled away and beat the defending back to back state champions in this game. The game was tied at 41-41 with 6:41 left in the 3rd quarter after a Aaron Parker made jumper. Later on in the 4th quarter Parker connected on a three pointer from the corner while being fouled and he made the free throw. The Tigers led 55-53 at the 4:44 mark.
The Grizzlies went on a 18-4 run to finish off the Tigers. Isayah Owens was key down the stretch for the Grizzlies and finished the night with 30 points, Jayden Byrd 13 points and Tyrik Ward-Hoyte finished with 11 points.
The Tigers have now lost 7 games in a row and stand at (5-9).The Tigers will pickup the pieces heading into region play and finally have a full team back on the floor. The Tigers were led in scoring by Darius Taylor with 17 points, Aaron Parker and Dashaquavious Cooper both added 12 points. Darius “JuJu” Williams a Middle Tennessee State football signee scored 11 points.
Great Falls HS 73 Bethune-Bowman HS 45
The Red Devils jumped out to a 21-6 lead after the first quarter. The Red Devils never let the Mohawks into the game after leading 37-20 at halftime. The Red Devils cruised to the victory and improved to (8-2) on the season.
Donnell Adams led the way with 14 points while Kelton Talford added 13 points.
Bradley Washington came off the bench for the Mohawks and scored 23 points. Jacquez Shuler added 7 points in loss for the Mohawks.
The first year event was a great success and it also showed legendary Head Coach John Smith in attendance. Smith coached at Great Falls HS for 47 years and won 943 games. Smith won 8 State Championships and 19 Upper State Championships.
