Desmond Murray – Williston-Elko HS (pictured on the front)
Murray is Mr. Everything for the Blue Devils this season with the early departure of Keshawn Toney to the University of South Carolina. Murray plays on the ball a lot more this season and never seems to leave the floor for Head Coach Mark Crossland. Murray 6’3 rebounds the ball very well and recorded 13 boards vs Creek Bridge HS on Saturday. Murray is extremely active on both ends of the floor.
Murray still must work on his perimeter skills for the next level. Murray currently averages 22.8 ppg and 14.8 rebounds this season for the Blue Devils. Murray has a chance to reach the 1,000 point club later in the season.
Darius Taylor – Hemingway HS
Taylor is finally back on the hardwood after playing football for the Tigers. Taylor is table-setter that makes things go for the Tigers on both ends of the floor. Taylor 5’11 has the ability to finish on the break or hit the open shot. Taylor sees the floor very well.Taylor has recorded over 930 career points and 440 assists to go with 2 state championships in his time in a Tigers uniform.
Darius “JuJu” Williams – Hemingway HS
Williams is monster inside the paint for the Tigers. Williams 6’4 lefthanded mismatch in the paint is a very deceptive athlete. Williams will continue to play in college but on the football field. Williams has signed to play at Middle Tennessee State next season. Williams and Taylor both seniors would like to finish their careers with a 3-peat this coming March. The Tigers currently have a (5-9) record on the season. Don’t LET that record fool you at all.
Tyrik Ward-Hoyte – High Point Academy (Spartanburg)
Ward-Hoyte 6’5 small forward has great length in the passing lanes. Ward-Hoyte originally from Virginia is very athletic and bouncy. Ward-Hoyte has limited shot range mostly comfortable at 8-10 feet on the floor. Ward-Hoyte excels in the transition style of play and at times likes to stalk the baseline.
