There is no better time than MLK Day, to take a look at positive young leaders in our communities. There are many gifted and intelligent young leaders in Michigan high school basketball. We should celebrate the young athletes that make our futures look brighter.
Lets celebrate these 8 future leaders on MLK Day:
Clifford Barrow (6’3″, SG, Dearborn Advanced Tech)
Barrow makes an impression on you as soon as you see how he responds to you. He’s a well spoken team first player who always shows a great deal of respect to all the people around him. Barrow is a good student and a next level basketball talent.
Caleb Bates (6’7″, F, Lake Shore High School)
Bates is an extremely smart kid and great student. He loves leading his team to wins, but will be the first to point out how well an opponent played. Bates is a beast on the court and a double-double machine. On and off the court, he will help lead the next generation.
River Rouge Seniors:
Nigel Colvin (6’2″, SG)
Daniel Few (6’6″, F)
Donovan Freeman (6’4″, F)
Bralin Toney (5’10”, PG)
This a truly special group of seniors at River Rouge. They are all next level talents on the basketball court. But that’s just the beginning of their story. They play the game for each other and not for their own name. These four are the same way as individuals, doing for others first and putting their own recognition on the backburner.
Ryan Wade (6’3″, SG, Ann Arbor Skyline)
Wade is a great student and even better young man. He conducts himself with grace and dignity on and off the basketball court. Wade is a sharpshooter from deep and an elite defender. While he’s a well known prep hoops star, he will be famous for much more someday.
Romeo Weems (6’6″, SF, New Haven)
Weems is a superstar basketball talent. He can do it all on an elite level, including score, pass, defend, and rebound. Weems does things his way and chooses to take his own path to success. He will continue to do this and will make a difference in his community and beyond.
