That presents opportunities for a ton of teams to pick up quality wins and stack together momentous weeks – or fall into big funks.
Here are some teams that had excellent weeks
Class A: Cass Lake-Bena
The Panthers are undefeated on the season and dominating Class A competition thus far this season. They picked up a tough win last week, beating Pine River-Backus 62-59. The Panthers average more than 75 points per game and oftentimes win going away. This win shows they are capable of getting gritty and winning ugly.
Class AA: Rockford
The Rockets picked up three wins last week to improve to 10-3 on the season. A blowout win over Dassel-Cokato kicked off the week before Rockford earned tougher, quality wins over Minneapolis Washburn and Glencoe-Silver Lake on back-to-back nights Thursday and Friday.
Class AAA: Alexandria
The Cardinals had a terrific week, earning three wins including two in conference and a critical section win over an undefeated foe. They kicked off the week with a nail-biter win over Willmar before edging St. Cloud Tech 79-57. The big win of the week was the Saturday victory over previously undefeated Bemidji behind a stellar performance from Anders Hedstrom.
Class AAAA: Buffalo
The Bison have figured things out after that 1-4 start. They showed their potential in a big way last week, blowing out Princeton, 83-63 to stay at the top of the Mississippi 8. Princeton was previously undefeated and ranked in the top-three in Class AAA, so that win is certainly a statement one. Matt Willert and Tony Dahl form one of the best wing duos in the state.
