Head Coach Mike Thompson and his squad were looking to end their road trip on a good note with another solid and impressive win over a national opponent.
The Indians, just about 36 hours ago, defeated Sunrise Christian (KS) in Sprinfield, Missouri in overtime to take home the Bass Pro Shop TOC title. Today they made their debut in the 2019 Spalding Hoophall Classic and they were matched up with Rancho Christian (CA), a program that features the Mobley Brothers in USC commit 2019 F Isaiah Mobley and the nation’s number one junior in C Evan Mobley. The Indians came into this one once again being ranked as the number two team in the nation and with an 18-0 overall record.
McEachern was in control from start to finish and besides 2020 PG Sharife Cooper’s 27 points in this one, one of Georgia’s top available seniors in 2019 G Alyn Breed finished with an efficient 20 points for the Indians. Alyn Breed is one of the most important players for this McEachern squad. His scoring abilities are very underrated and besides his tough offensive game, Breed is one of the best on ball defenders that you will witness. The Indians defeated Rancho Christian (CA) 66-55 and Sharife Cooper was named player of the game.
This squad has been impressive all season long and have had a brutal and super competitive schedule and are sitting at a 19-0 record. Now that the tough part of their schedule is over, it is now time for McEachern to focus on capturing that Georgia class 7A state title and making their appearance in the 2019 Geico Nationals that is held in New York in March. The Indians should breeze through the rest of their regular season schedule and the way they have been dominating, maybe this year can be the year they bring home that state title.
