This year’s event is loaded from top to bottom once again and like it is every single year. It is one of the major national high school boys basketball event we look forward to every single season. This season the field includes programs like Montverede (FL), Findlay Prep (NV), La Lumiere (IN), Sunrise Christian (KS), Gonzaga (DC), First Love (PA), and more.
Georgia, over the years, has had a program compete in the national event. Programs from Georgia that have participated in the past include Miller Grove, Westlake, Greenforest Christian, McEachern, Wheeler, and others just to name a few. This season McEachern will make their second consecutive appearance and Norcross will also be competing this year. McEachern will be facing both Findlay Prep (NV) and Imhotep Charter (PA) while Norcross will be facing Montverde Academy (FL) and DeMatha (MD). Could McEachern and Norcross return to the peach state with a combined 4-0 record?
The Indians of McEachern will make their return this year to West Virginia and will be looking to come out with a win or two this year. Last season, the Indians fell to DeMatha (MD) at a score of 73-63 in this same event. Findlay Prep (NV) out of the Henderson, Nevada area will be the first opponent the Indians will come across on Friday January 4th. Findaly Prep (NV) comes into this one at a 13-2 overall record so far this season and are led by TCU signee 2019 PG PJ Fuller. On day two, the rematch of the 2018 City of Palms Championship will end the CRC as they will once again face Imhotep Charter (PA) out of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. McEachern has been listed as the number one team in the country in some polls coming into this event and are led by their big three 2020 PG Sharife Cooper, Auburn signee 2019 F Isaac Okoro, and Northwestern signee 2019 F Jared Jones.
For Norcross, the Blue Devils have been led this season by 2020 W Brandon Boston Jr. and USC signee 2019 PG Kyle Sturdivant. Norcross will be coming into this event with a 10-5 overall record and coming off their trip to the Chic-Fil-A Classic in Columbia, South Carolina. They will be matched up with powerhouse Montverde Academy (FL) on their first day in West Virginia. We should all know that Montverde is always loaded with talent year after and year and this season it is no different. Montverde’s roster this year consist of 2020 F Cade Cunningham, 2020 SG Moses Moody, 2019 F Precious Achiuwa, and Florida signee 2019 F Omar Payne. On Saturday, the Blue Devils are scheduled to face DeMatha (MD) who are coming into this one with a 10-1 overall record.
