Little Elm came into the game undefeated in district play (4-0), while The Colony was tied for second place at (3-1). The game was as good as advertised and it even needed an extra period to decide the final score. The Cougars’ point guard Luis Rodriguez drained a clutch three with 49 seconds remaining in regulation that eventually sent the game into overtime. However, free throw shooting played a big part this one. The Colony’s inability to convert at the foul line in the final minutes turned out to be key in their one-point loss to the still first place Little Elm Lobos.

Player Breakdown
R.J. Hampton • 6’5” • SG • Little Elm • 2020
After a quiet first quarter, the number one player in the junior class got his pull-up game going from the outside. He got to the foul line at a rapid rate and scored 19 first half points (16 in the second quarter). He was quiet in the second half, but still impacted the game with his intense on-ball defense. Hampton took some questionable shots at times, but made up for in the end nailing the tough mid-range jumper with seven seconds remaining that eventually won the game for the Lobos and kept them undefeated in district play. The five-star guard scored a game-high 32 points in the nailbiter.
Tre White • 6’5” • SF • Little Elm • 2022
The diaper dandy made the right plays at the right times for Little Elm. He swatted three shots, was active on the glass, and made the right passes in multiple situations. White displayed great offensive awareness within his much needed all-around performance.
Bryce Okpoh • 6’7” • PF • The Colony • 2019
Okpoh was an active scorer inside who did not mind getting physical. The Lobos did not want anything to do with him when he was fed the ball in the low post. He went to work with his back to the basket and elevated for defensive boards and second chance opportunities. He had a great performance, but his struggles at the free throw line were crucial in the outcome of the game. The unsigned forward still finished with a team high 22 points.
Gerren Davis • 6’2” • SG • The Colony • 2019
The strong-bodied combo guard hit some shots from deep off the catch, but it was not his offense that made him stand out. Davis rebounded well on the both ends and came up with big time defensive plays. His nose for the ball forced a Little Elm turnover which led to Luis Rodriguez’s big three-point score. He scored ten points and grabbed a handful of rebounds in the close loss.
