Hustle Region Preview: Tucson Orange Basketball
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hustle Region and here’s a look at Tucson Orange Basketball out of Arizona.
Tucson Orange will have teams in 17U and 16U divisions of the Hustle Region and will be at the Spring Kickoff, #HustleSzn Kickoff, Battle in the Desert, and the Hustle Region Finals.
Here’s a transcript of a conversation we had with Tucson Orange owner Anthony Marshall.
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
I actually didn’t initially start Tucson Orange my father did. He started it when I was playing AAU basketball and he started it so I could play basketball with my friends. I started it back up last year and I did it because I love coaching and helping kids. I love going out on the court and give kids the opportunity to play and learn about this great game of basketball. We have been around for about 8 years now.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
Goals for this year are to compete against top notch competition while giving kids the chance to get more scholarships to play at the next level.
What is your program’s mission each year?
The mission for the program is to be better than yesterday. Get better every time we touch the court and play to get scholarships.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
We do have quite a few players returning in our program. From the 17U team we have 3 guys that drew attention from schools last year.
Kolby Lathrop 6-4 forward
Kobe Marshall 6-2 Guard
Jaylin Young 6-0 Point Guard
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
We chose the Prep Hoops Circuit because we believe that it will give our players the best opportunity to get looks from coaches along with playing top notch competition from teams all over the country.
