Hustle Region Preview: South Bay Supreme
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hustle Region and here’s a look at South Bay Supreme which is based out of California.
South Bay Supreme will have a team in the 16U of the Hustle Region and will be at the Bash in the Desert, Hustle in the Sun, and the Hustle Region Finals.
Here’s a transcript of a conversation we had with South Bay Supreme Director Chris Meservey.
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
I started my program because there was a shortage of coaches teaching the fundamentals of basketball correctly and holding their players to those standards and games.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
Our goal for 2019 is to prepare all of our players to play at the next level (College) by playing, up in age, at open level events all season.
What is your program’s mission each year?
To teach the game of basketball to young men and develop them to be productive citizens. Also, provide an avenue to receive a free college education through basketball scholarships.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
Our best player is Mateo Castro #11. He has incredible shooting range from anywhere on the court, great ball handler, runs the point in a very intelligent and efficient manner, plays great defense and is a great teammate.
I would also keep an eye on Boston Wimberly #24 and Chez Andrews-Bey #10.
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
We chose the Prep Hoops Circuit because we wanted an opportunity to play great competition.
