Hustle Region Preview: Los Angeles Bobcats Elite
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hustle Region and here’s a look at Los Angeles Bobcats Elite.
Los Angeles Bobcats Elite will have teams in 17U, 16U, and 15U divisions of the Hustle Region and will be at the #HustleSzn Kickoff, Hustle in the Sun, and the Hustle Region Finals.
Here’s a transcript of a conversation we had with Los Angeles Bobcats Elite program director
Mike Forster.
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
We have been about for almost 10 years, the program was started in 2009 in Inglewood CA helping inner city kids who didn’t have a place to play and try to keep them safe and off the streets and our program has produced many top athletes in Southern California.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
To prepare our players for the next level.
What is your program’s mission each year?
Our mission is to provide an environment where young athletes can focus on education and athletics and prepare them for whatever challenges they may face in the future. Sports teach discipline, hard work, responsibility and teamwork, which combined, are what we believe to be the foundation for not only better athletes but better men and women.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
Almost all will return this year.
2019 Michael Ibarra
2022 Jalen Vazquez
2022 Jacob Forster
2022 Christopher Hammond
2022 Jaayden Bush
2022 Kenneth Clayton
2019 Maurizio Cruz
2020 Joseph Hernandez
2022 Aaron Jelks
2021 Drew Mitchell
2019 Kristopher Krause
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
We wanted to try something new and with the NCAA viewing period changes we decided to not travel this year and as an independent, non-shoe program we wanted to find a circuit where our players can compete and maybe get noticed and some possible scholarship opportunities to further their education.
