It was a fast paced game controlled by the guards of Houston Christian. The Mustangs’ quick and efficient scoring earned them the 84-70 victory over the Panthers. Here is the trio that led Houston Christian to their twentieth win of the season:
Sahvir Wheeler • 5’9” • PG • Senior
Wheeler performed well in his second game of the season. The four-star guard is a whirling dervish with the rock and showed why he is one of the best passers in the country. He constantly made the defense collapse with his penetration and always found the open man for the score. Wheeler has added weight since being out the first half of the season with a knee injury. The Texas A&M signee will be ready to absorb contact at the next level when handling the rock through pressure and getting into the paint. He finished with a double-double of 14 points and ten assists.
Noah Kon Noah Kon 6'1" | PG Houston Christian | 2021 State TX • 6’1” • PG • Sophomore
The sophomore guard also initiates the offense for the Mustangs. He has a solid basketball build and great body control when attacking and scoring in the paint. Kon showed the ability to stretch the floor and hit a couple of spot-up threes off the catch. He has had a terrific season leading Houston Christian to a bunch of wins without Wheeler on the floor. The young guard led the game in scoring with 25 points. Look for him to move up in our midseason sophomore player rankings.
Ty Archibald • 6’0” • SG • Senior
Archibald fits in well within the offense because of his elite ability to play without the ball in his hands. He does a lot of damage from deep and will knock down shots off the catch no matter how good the close out is. He scored 20 points (including five threes) in the win.
