PG Raheem Anthony (DePaul Prep)
Anthony is a strong lead guard that rebounds well for his position. Was very good at that against St. Charles East as he crashed the glass on both ends of the floor. Offensively he likes to attack and get to the charity stripe on drives. A bit wild at times with the ball through traffic. He was really good at the charity stripe. Solid job passing with four dimes. He had 12 points and 9 rebounds.
SF Carter Thurman (Plainfield North)
Thurman impressed in a pair of games we saw him play. The 6’6” small forward was consistent throughout the day shooting it from beyond the arc. He connected on an array of threes mostly off the catch, but also mixed in some mid-range shots and crafty finishes in the lane as well. Skilled wing that also presents toughness. Thurman scored 18 points in their morning win.
SF Chuck Sweat (New Trier)
Sweat is a thin and wiry wing with some projectability. He can shoot it from three as he connected on 2-3 from deep. Sweet looking stroke off the catch. He had 8 points.
PG Trevon Hamilton (Curie)
Hamilton is a point guard that flies under the radar, but we have been impressed this season. There are guys on his team who might get more pub, but he runs the show at the point of attack. Strong and stocky guard who looks to set others up first. Is more than willing to let others score as long as his team gets the W.
SG Donzell Johnson (Bloomington)
Johnson is a power two guard that has shown more consistency as a shooter over the last six months. That continued at Pontiac as he drilled 3-5 from beyond the arc. Solid form. If he can continue shooting like this he is going to have a long line of suitors at the next level. Johnson had 11 points.
F Emani Burgess (Bloom)
Burgess is a combo forward who played a key role for Bloom inside against Curie. The senior finished well in the paint and used his length to get on the offensive glass for put backs. High activity level led him to 10 points.
PG Chase Robinson (OPRF)
Robinson brings toughness on the perimeter. He is a two way player that can defend as well as shoot it. He is a solid perimeter shooter hitting a pair of threes on the wings along with a mid-range jumper. Robinson had 13 points.
SF Johnny Roeser (Carmel)
Roeser is a wing at 6’4” that has added strength in his upper body over the last year. This has allowed him to be more effective in the paint. The senior was aggressive early in the first half with how well he scored on quick post ups and crashed the glass for second chance points. Effective as a mid-range shooter that can occasionally stretch it out to three. Has always flashed as a passer especially out of the high-post. Roeser will be a nice fit for a small college. He had 24 points.
F Damone Williams-Gray (Carmel)
Williams-Gray is a 6’4” undersized four man that plays the three at times. High motor kid. Thick bodied forward that hits the glass hard and plays physical around the hoop. Stretched it to three once, but most of his damage was done in the paint. He went for 15 points.
PG Lawrence Brazil (Belleville West)
Brazil just continues to quietly go about his business and do what he is best at. Gets others the ball in spots to succeed. Quality passer especially in the half court. Pushes in transition. Consistent mid-range shooter stopping and popping on a dime. He recorded 12 points and 4 assists.
SF Will Shumpert (Belleville West)
Shumpert is a super physical forward who is built like a defensive end. He had to step up with Keith Randolph not playing. Did just that mauling on the glass on both ends of the floor. Scored on put backs. Also cut a passing lane which allowed him to get out in transition for a layup. Shumpert scored 6 points.
SF Jaylin Mosby (Belleville West)
Mosby is a crafty guard who can be a utility guy at the next level. Decent spot up shooter and crafty with the ball in his hands. Mosby had 10 points.
