Hard Work Region Preview: Ohio Celtics
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hard Work Region and here’s a look at the Ohio Celtics.
The Celtics will have teams in 17U, 15U and 14U divisions of the Hard Work Region and will be at Hard Work Live, Havoc in the Heartland, The Summer Challenge and the Hard Work Region Finals.
I recently caught up with Celtics Director Terry Awls to learn more about his program and what to expect from the Celtics this season:
Why did you start your program?
We started Ohio Celtics to improve the AAU experience for players..How long have you been around? Ohio Celtics have been around for about 8 years.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
Our goal is to have our players and program on a respectable level as some others in Ohio.
What is your program’s mission each year?
To expose our players to a high quality brand of tournaments and for us to win 20+ games, last year we went 33-8. We won 3 Championships and had 3 runner up finishes and took the Silver medal at the US Amateurs in Indianapolis. We return 70 percent of our team. We are currently ranked #1 in Ohio Division 2 (US Amatuer Basketball power rankings).
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
Cameron Awls, (getting D1, D2, looks) Kendal Marshall (getting D1, D2 looks) Nate Brighton (getting D2, D3 looks) Fred Overton (getting D3, looks).
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
We are excited to be a part of a growing brand that will only get better, our experience so far has been pretty awesome. Prep Hoops is a trusted name in the AAU circuit
