Hard Work Region Preview: JH-1 Elite Ohio
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hard Work Region and here’s a look at JH1-Elite Ohio
JH1-Elite will compete in the 15U age division of the Hard Work Region and will be at Havoc in the Heartland, The Show Me Showdown, The Summer Challenge and the Hard Work Region Finals.
I recently caught up with JH1 Elite-Ohio Director Scott Thomas to learn more about his program and what to expect from the Elite this season:
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
JH1 Elite has been around for a couple years. This is the first year for JH1 Elite Ohio. I played professionally with Jordan Hulls in Belgium and joined his organization because I felt like what he was building was beneficial for young basketball players.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
The goal for this season is to get the players on our team to play at a high level and play the game the right way. We have built a very solid team and look to compete every time we are on the floor.
What is your program’s mission each year?
Our mission is to give kids the opportunity to play the game at the highest level they can. We are here to provide mentorship, support and opportunity for the players.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
This is a first year organization in Ohio but we have one player who participated in the CP3 camp. His name is Troy Scowden. Troy is ranked 3rd best big in the state in his class. We also have some talented guards in J.J. Simmons, Dylan Thompson, LA Walker, Josiah Smith and Robert Dorsey Jr.
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
We were referred to Prep Hoops by the JH1 organization.
