North Division:
1. Beechcroft 9-3 (6-1)
Running things at the halfway mark in the City League North is Beechcroft. After losing key contributors, Na’Elle Simmons has put in work, averaging almost 18 PPG for his squad. Biggest game remaining for the 8-3 Beechcroft squad will be Friday against 7-3 Centennial.
2. Centennial 7-3 (5-2)
Just behind Beechcroft is a solid Centennial team. Just a game back, fresh off of a solid win against Northland. The Stars can still gain possession of the North with a win over Beechcroft, whom they have beat once already. Centennial is led by Jaylen Gilbert and Ohio Dominican baseball commit Myles Martinez who combine for well over 30 PPG.
3. Northland 7-4 (5-2)
Also, still alive is the Vikings from Northland. Always a power in the North, Northland is within two games reach from Beechcroft in division play. A tough loss on Tuesday night to Centennial put a damper on the Vikings plans, but they’re still well alive. Led by unsigned senior N’Keeley Elmore who’s having a great season, putting up 18 a game for his team. With some tough games ahead the Vikings will have to play above their normal to get to the top.
South Division:
1. Columbus South 12-0 (7-0)
Senior Treohn Watkins, whom averages 16 a game is the leader of a really good South program. One of the best Division ll teams in the state. Off to a 12-0 start, their biggest game of the season looms Friday. Having already defeated Walnut Ridge in a stellar game, they will have to do it again Friday night to stay alone atop the City League South. Expect an all-out battle between those two.
2. Walnut Ridge 10-2 (6-1)
Walnut Ridge has taken care of business this year behind stud big man Von Cameron-Davis. Averaging about 29 PPG Davis has been unstoppable in the City-League. There has been no slowing him down. With their best win thus far over Olentangy. If Walnut Ridge can pull the upset Friday against South, they will be right there atop the division standings.
3. Eastmoor 5-7 (5-2)
Eastmoor is playing well despite the production they lost from last year, and the difficult out of conference schedule. In conferences they have taken care of business, besides the South and Walnut Ridge teams of course. The Warriors are led by four players who average double-figure points, including Julian Binford and Gicobi Massey. First place in the division is probably out of question, but the Eastmoor squad should be able to keep third place on lock.
