Full schedule for the MLK Classic at Lausanne
The high school basketball players are going to be out of school on Monday, Jan. 21 in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Also, there will be some high school basketball action on Monday as well. Lausanne Collegiate School will host the 2019 MLK Classic, which will feature some of the best talent in the state of Tennessee.
Here’s the full schedule for Monday’s MLK Classic at Lausanne:
Power Center vs. MHEA (Girls) 9:00 a.m.
Lausanne vs. DeLaSalle (Girls) 10:30 a.m.
USJ vs. Memphis Central (Girls) 12:00 p.m.
Power Center vs. Cordova (Boys) 1:30 p.m.
Senior forward Bruce Guy Jr. is coming off a strong offensive outing against Bolton and Bartlett. The Iona commit combined to score 52 points in both games. The Wolfpack defeated Bolton, 92-88, in overtime, but Cordova lost to the Panthers, 64-46.
MUS vs. Memphis Central (Boys) 3:00 p.m.
CBHS vs. White Station (Boys) 4:30 p.m.
This game will feature two teams with solid offensive players. Christian Brothers has Reese McMullen, Chandler Jackson, Harrison Kelly, Sam Spence, among others. White Station has Davon Barnes and Brandon Brown. This should be an entertaining matchup.
Bartlett vs. Briarcrest (Boys) 6:00 p.m.
This matchup could very well be the best game on the schedule. Bartlett will be led by Sylvester Thompson and Wynne Brown Jr. in the backcourt. Briarcrest will be led by Michael Malone and Kennedy Chandler in its backcourt. The Panthers also have Ole Miss commit Antavion Collum and Rodney Mason Jr. The Saints have Omari Thomas and Rodney Newsome, two post players who are physical and reliable on offense.
Lausanne vs. Fayette Ware (Boys) 7:30 p.m.
The Lynx have a talented group, mixed with upperclassmen and young players who could become big-time in the next year or so. Coach Marvis Davis has a team that’s built to make a state title run.
