Friday’s Games to Watch
Four games to watch during Friday’s WIAA boy’s basketball action…
Milwaukee Academy of Science (3-6) at Milwaukee Lutheran (8-2)
Good guard matchup between Kaleim Taylor (21.9 ppg) and JaVeon Tolliver (13.4 ppg). The Novas, who don’t yet have Darius Hannah back from injury, continue to navigate a very difficult schedule. Milwaukee Lutheran has recently appeared in the latest Division 2 rankings after a strong showing against Waukesha West last week and a win over Mount Horeb.
Franklin (6-2) at Kenosha Indian Trail (7-3)
The Southeast Conference is extremely competitive at this point in the season and this could be a game that makes or breaks the title hopes for Franklin or Kenosha Indian Trail. KIT is tied for first, getting 17.8 ppg from Ezra Stargell. The Sabers are getting 15.8 ppg from sophomore forward Carter Capstran.
Madison LaFollette (7-2) at Madison East (11-0)
Huge game that will help decide the Big Eight Conference. Madison East puts its perfect record on the line against a La Follette team that were our pick to win the league in the preseason. Two Big Eight Player of the Year candidates Anthony Washington (19.3 ppg) and Donneil Gray (17.3 ppg) square off in this one.
Lakeside Lutheran (6-1) at Columbus (5-2)
Two contenders in Division 3 meet in this Capitol North Conference battle. Lakeside Lutheran features a strong interior 1-2 punch of Jack Monis (16.5 ppg) and Cameron Paske (14.3 ppg). Columbus has a strong duo in their own right in the form of Trent Casper (20.0 ppg) and Ben Emler (19.1 ppg).
