Bridgewater-Emery vs. Hanson 6:15 p.m.
The Huskies look to get back into the win column after suffering their first in-state loss of the season to White River 88-79 at the Hanson Classic. The Huskies struggled in the second half after only trailing by one at halftime. The Huskies Sawyer Schultz had 16 points and 13 boards in the loss. The Beavers are looking to get back into the win column as well after suffering their second loss of the year to Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, 58-40. They sit atop the Region 4 standings through the season thus far with 44.417 seed points. Hanson has been averaging 50 points over the last six games in the month of January and has allowed 46.3 points a game. Hason Junior guard Reggie Slaba has emerged as Hanson’s top scoring option so far this season. He looks to get back in the right direction after a sluggish performance the last couple of games.
Dakota Valley vs. Sioux Falls Christian 8 p.m.
The Chargers coach Mike Schouten hopes the Tea Area game was a wake-up call for his team.
“We’ve been getting by throughout the season, playing just well enough to win,” Schouten said to the Argus Leader after the Tea Area game. “Tonight was the first time we really just had it handed to us by a really good team. I’m hoping this was the wake-up call and things will get better from here on out.”
Against the Titans, the Chargers were 18 points their average of 68 points per game and the 73 points allowed was well above the 53 points they’ve allowed thus far. With the Panthers on a bit of a hot streak themselves, the Chargers will be challenged once again. Sophomore Paul Bruns just put up a school record 40 points last game and Charlie Cox is right there with him to lead the Dakota Valley (7-2).
Harrisburg vs. Watertown 7 p.m.
The Arrows are coming off a 54-28 victory over Mitchell earlier this week and look to bring that momentum into tonight’s game against Harrisburg to pull them to .500 on the year. They shot 49 percent and 35 percent from deep in their last game. Solomon Bach had 12 points and Brandon Florey had 10 last time out. For the Tigers (6-4), they are on a two-game win streak and have had an up and down season already this year. After they beat Iowa powerhouse Western Christian Hull (IA) they only won one of their next four games before winning their next four out of five games. Senior Nick Hoyt has been getting buckets the last couple of games, including a 36-point outburst against Pierre in the win.
White River vs. Pine Ridge 4:15 MT
The new No. 1 team in Class B, the Tigers look to make another statement win against Class A No. 6 Pine Ridge after beating them in the Lakota Nation Invitational Championship game, 62-58. Jadic Morrison was the tournament MVP and finished with 17 points. Morrison struggled in the matchup of Class B powers in Mitchell and looks to have a better shooting performance against the Thorpes. The Thorpes have only lost once to No. 5 Red Cloud since the Tournament loss earlier this season. Pine Ridge has been averaging 74.5 points over the last six games while limiting their opponents to 55 points a game. Halen Bad Bear and Corey Brown have been two of the top players for the Thorpes thus far including Bad Bears 21 point and Browns 10 point efforts the last time they played the Tigers.
