Continue ReadingGerald Doakes entered high school in Arkansas as a member of the 2020 class. But five months after his move to Houston, Texas, he has decided to transfer out of Milby High School to Pro-Vision Academy and reclassify into the sophomore class.
With rankings currently being updated, Doakes was planned to be ranked within the top ten players in the junior class. However, after his recent move, our staff has decided he will be slotted in the top five of the sophomore rankings and become the number one shooting guard in the class.

The four-star guard currently holds offers from Abilene Christian, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Southern Mississippi, SMU, TCU, and Texas A&M. He also has received interest from Auburn, Houston, Louisville, and Oregon.
Prep Hoops Texas Reaction:
This will be Doakes’ fourth high school in three years. However, the reclassification could be great for his recruitment. He always has been looked upon as a high major prospect. His reclassing down only helps his case.
Analysis: There are so many adjectives that can be used when describing Doakes’ game. The Arkansas native is electric, explosive, athletic, and extremely confident. He scores in bunches and gets extreme elevation on his jumper. The newly-sophomore guard can take a lot of head-scratching contested jumpers, but that could change if he looks to refine his game and I.Q. Doakes will be joining top 50 ranked senior and Denver signee Mykell Robinson at Pro-Vision to finish off his sophomore season.
