Episcopal was up by double digits mostly all game but Georgetown Prep kept clawing on back late in the second half and even took the lead in the 4th quarter but it was Episcopal that ended up winning 65-62. Below are five takeaways I have from the game.
2021 Darius Johnson Is The Next Johnson Up
The younger brother of George Mason commit, Xavier Johnson, had a big game scoring 25 points and bringing down 9 rebounds. He excelled in transition and was blowing by defenders all game and finishing baskets at the rim. He has tremendous athleticism and speed like his older brother and is showing that he is going to be another highly touted prospect out of the Johnson family.
2019 Kamdyn Curfman Stars Off The Bench
When Georgetown Prep needed a spark or a bucket, their go to guy yesterday was Curfman who finished with 12 points including three from deep. He showed that he is a threat to score the ball in bunches and he was good in setting up his teammates. Kamdyn was always making the right play in leading the Georgetown Prep comeback and is someone that can surely help a division one program.
2020 Tymu Chenery Was Not Being Stopped
Chenery looked magnificent last night finishing with 19 points in which he was borderline unstoppable attacking the rim. He was powering his way to the rim all night and Georgetown Prep did not find an answer to stopping him. His bounce was also on full display as he caught two alley oops and some big time dunks, including one that ended up being the final score of the contest prevailing Episcopal to win 65-62. Throw in two triples, multiple rebounds and a few blocks, it was a very productive evening for the junior.
2019 Belo Oranye Out Rebounded Everybody
The Amherst commit was a workhorse around the rim on Tuesday night hauling in 11 rebounds. He was not putting the ball in the basket that much against Episcopal but what he did on the boards was extremely crucial for his Georgetown Prep squad. There was simply nobody getting a rebound over him.
2019 Miles Somerville Is A Shot Maker
Somerville was all over the court Tuesday night making shot after shot finishing with 17 points. Whether it was a running floater, tough pull ups or set up three’s for him, Miles was doing everything on offense for Georgetown Prep.
