1.) 2019 Derek Krogmann (West Delaware) – 15.3 rebounds per game
The preferred walk-on at Northern Iowa has been dominant for the Hawks, posting averages of 21.1 points and 15.3 rebounds. He’ll become just the 31st player in Iowa high school history to amass over 1,000 career rebounds shortly after the break.
2.) 2019 Keegan Simons (Ar-We-Va) – 14.4 rebounds per game
One of the smaller players on this top 10 list at 6-2, Simons is also averaging 16.3 points a game. He’s averaging more than five offensive rebounds a night.
T3.) 2020 Nick Reid (Central City) – 14.1 rebounds per game
We saw his name at the top of the scoring list, and here he is again. The state’s leading scorer has been equally dominant on the glass, posting a double-double in every game so far this season, including a 42 point, 29 rebound monster against Starmont.
T3.) 2019 Owen Coburn (Spirit Lake) – 14.1 rebounds per game
The future South Dakota State Jackrabbit has been dominant for four years now, and he’s finishing his high school career with a bang, averaging 24.3 points (on 68.8% shooting) and 14.1 rebounds a night for the Indians.
5.) 2020 Nik Coble (WACO) – 13.4 rebounds per game
The 6-5 junior has been fantastic for Warriors, leading the team in scoring, rebounding and blocking nearly four shots a game.
6.) 2019 Andrew Van Ryswyk (PCM) – 12.8 rebounds per game
The 6-5 senior forward has posted a double-double in all but one game so far this season for the Mustangs, who are off to a 6-2 start.
7.) 2019 Devin Fuson (Madrid) – 12.7 rebounds per game
Despite being listed at just 6-0, Fuson has been dominant on the glass and has been particularly aggressive on the offensive end, pulling down 4.7 offensive boards a game.
8.) 2019 Dakota Veldhuizen (Moulton-Udell) – 12.4 rebounds per game
It’s been a rough start to the year for M-U, winning just one game before the break, but Veldhuizen has been a bright spot, averaging 10.4 points and 12.4 rebounds a night.
9.) 2020 Edward Armstrong (Clarinda Academy) – 12.2 rebounds per game
The 6-2 forward has been nearly as strong on the offensive glass (43 rebounds) as defensive (46). That type of balance is a rarity, and pulling down six offensive boards a game goes a long way towards his 14.3 point a game average.
T10.) 2019 Chandler Damewood (Alta-Aurelia) – 12.1 rebounds per game
A 6-4 senior, Damewood is the team’s third scoring option, but makes his mark in other ways, including the glass. He also ranks third on the team in assists and leads with 18 blocks.
T10.) 2019 Keaton Mitchell (Wapello) – 12.1 rebounds per game
The future Truman State big man enjoyed a breakout summer with the Iowa Barnstormers and has been fantastic leading an Indians team that lost a ton of production from last year’s state qualifying team. Mitchell has them back in the mix to return to State.
The next 13: Xavier Foster (Oskaloosa, 2020; 11.8), Ben Heeren (Ogden, 2019; 11.6), Ben Thelander (Lawton-Bronson, 2020; 11.6), Cooper Dejean (OA-BCIG, 2021; 11.4), Kade Klommhaus (Diagonal, 2020; 11.4), Cole Henry (Oskaloosa, 2019; 11.3), Frank Bierman (Tipton, 2020; 11.3), Ryan Schmitt (Van Meter, 2019; 11.3), Josh Walleser (Kee, 2019; 11.2), Caleb Bacon (Lake Mills, 2021; 11.1), Nathan Weaver (Chariton, 2019; 11.0), Issa Samake (Grand View Christian, 2019; 11.0), Zack Lasek (Highland, 2020; 11.0)
