Hype is the name of the game these days, and teams who don’t have any of it don’t have much hope against teams who can keep the motor running for 32 minutes. From the 2019 Carl Albert Titan Classic, these were the most energy generators:
Trey Nolen 2019 Edmond North guard
Trey Nolen is a guy who does great things for the Huskies. Aside from scoring the basketball and getting the ball into scorers’ hands, Nolen also brings fire to the Huskies with his leadership abilities and long-running motor. Nolen is a vocal guy who gets teammates fired up with his encouragement and his long-running motor. He doesn’t slow down.
Zeph Smith 2019 OKC Storm point guard
Zeph Smith, a 5-foot-9 floor general for the Storm, is one of the most tenacious players you will see. Bringing the ball up the floor, Smith uses his quickness and ball-handling to attack opposing defenses and score at the rim. Smith was great in leading the floor for the Storm for almost all of the game. The senior point guard for the nine-deep Storm roster doesn’t get a lot of off-time, but luckily, he doesn’t need the much either.
Chris Veales 2019 Carl Albert point guard
Chris Veales brought a lot of energy to the floor at the Titan Classic with good defense, relentlessness, and some scoring, too. Veales has a high motor and was electrifying for the hosting Titans in their efforts.
Curtis Rose 2021 Carl Albert guard
Carl Albert guys have been known to bring the heat. I like the attitude these guys bring to the court every night, and Curtis Rose is the epitome of that value. Rose is a great hooper because of the effort he gives and the pure speed he has on the floor. He gets rebounds, plays as hard as anybody, does not give up and makes great passes for the Titans.
Jeff Foreman 2019 Del City wing
Jeff Foreman, also a standout on the gridiron for the 5A Eagles of Del City, stood out as a guy who played coast-to-coast, both ends of the floor, for as long as his body could stand. A starter for the Eagles, not many players still had his motor in the closing minutes of games. He plays physical and down-your-throat defensively, leading the Eagles with his relentless style of play.
Antonio Gordon 2019 Lawton Ike wing/forward
Antonio Gordon is an impressive athlete, plain and simple. The 6-foot-10-inch Kansas State commit generates excitement with his versatility and scoring presence. He can fill up the stat sheet from any place on the floor and is explosive enough to get a few dunks a game, fueling the fire for Lawton Ike to bury opponents.
