Now that the calendar has turned from 2018 to 2019 and teams have entered conference play, let’s take a look at the players who are the sixth- through 10th-leading scorers in Colorado’s Class 5A and how they’re doing it.
Kobe Sanders, 6-0, G, Chaparral, 2020, 20.9 ppg
The eighth-ranked 2020 player in our Prep Hoops Colorado rankings, Sanders has been crushing it for the No. 2-ranked Wolverines this winter. The junior guard is averaging over 20 points per game despite scoring an average of 14 points a game over his past three. In a win over Columbine last night, Sanders was 8 for 11 from the field to boost his season-long shooting percentage to 43 percent through 13 games.
Kwane Marble, 6-1, G, Denver East, 2019, 20.6 ppg
Coming in at No. 2 in the Prep Hoops Colorado 2019 rankings, Marble has done nothing but justify his lofty standing thus far in 2018-19. Much more than just a scorer, the Angels senior is averaging 3.7 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game. He has two double-doubles with points and rebounds and against Mountain View on Nov. 30, he put up a triple-double with 21 points, 11 assists and 10 steals.
Isaiah Robinson, 6-0, SG, Palmer, 2019, ppg
A big-time stock riser this season, Robinson’s 3-point shooting has increased from 25 percent as a junior to 33 percent as a senior. He’s made plenty of other improvements to his game and has scored over 30 points three times already this season. Just as important as his scoring, Robinson has stepped things up at the defensive end as well.
Daniel Carr, 6-9, C, Regis Jesuit, 2019, 20.4 ppg
This kid has plenty of tools to play at the next level and he’s been putting them on display all season long. Carr showed the ability to shoot the long ball late in 2017-18 and has made 11 of 43 attempts this season, which has helped lead to an increase in his scoring output to go with his 11.2 rebounds per game.
Damian Forrest, 6-8, C/PF, Poudre, 2019, 20.4 ppg
At 6-foot-8, 210 pounds, Forrest is a load inside and his improved touch around the rim has lead to a 20-plus scoring average. A coordinated and athletic player for a young man with his height and length, Forrest and his high motor have six double-doubles on the season and has grabbed a dozen or more rebounds in all six of those games.
