With home stretch of the season on the horizon, let’s take a look at the leading steals men in Colorado’s Class 5A.
11. Rocky Beers, 6-3, G, Valor Christian, 2020, 2.6 spg
The winter of 2018-19 has brought with it a rare down season for the Valor Christian Eagles, but Beers has stood out among a handful of bright spots on this year’s team. The 6-foot-3 junior has been a blessing at point guard, where he doesn’t score a ton but averages 3.4 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 steals.
12. Sean Bohuslavsky, 5-11, G, Liberty, 2019, 2.6 spg
A talented 3-point shooter, Bohuslavsky leads Liberty with 16.5-point scoring average. He isn’t, however, the type to get off his corner 3-pointer then job back to hide on defense. Bohuslavsky also leads the Lancers with 2.6 steals per game and at 5-foot-11, grabs 3.2 boards a night.
13. Hezekiah Swanson, 5-11, G, Overland, 2020, 2.6 spg
One of the more versatile and productive players in 5A, Swanson leads the Trailblazers’ defensive efforts with 2.6 steals per game. He’s also averaging 12.6 points, 4.9 assists and 5.1 rebounds a night.
14. Marcus Hill, 5-10, G, Gateway, 2019, 2.5 spg
Hill is averaging 2.5 steals per game for the season and 2.625 over his past eight games. Over that span, the Olympians (13-4) have won eight in a row. He’s also chipping in 9.0 points and 4.3 rebounds a night.
15. Delvin Sipple, 5-11, W, Hinkley, 2020, 2.5 spg
Though he does average 9.1 points a night, Sipple gets most of his work done at the defensive end of the floor. Despite being just 5-foot-11, he does a good job of altering shots and gets his hands in passing lanes regularly, averaging 2.5 steals per game.
