With conference play underway, let’s take a look at the 16th- through 20th-leading rebounders in Colorado’s Class 5A.
16. Thurbil Bile, 6-5, P, Eaglecrest, 2019, 8.5 rpg
Bile got off to a great start this season and has continued the rebound the ball at a high level through the midway point of the regular season. He is scoring 10.6 points a night and over his last three games, he has averaged 10.7 rebounds. It’s likely no coincidence that the Raptors are 3-0 in those games and have not lost a game in which Bile has grabbed double-digit rebounds.
17. Simon May, 6-5, SF/PF, Mountain Vista, 2019, 8.4 rpg
May is the 40th-ranked senior in the Prep Hoops Colorado rankings and has helped pace a surprising Mountain Vista team that exploded out of the games and is now the No. 1-ranked team in Class 5A, according to the CHSAANow.com poll. Not only is he pulling down 8.4 boards a night, he is also second on the team with 10.8 points a game.
18. Brendan Temple, 6-5, F, Douglas County, 2019, 8.4 rpg
A natural increase in skill that comes with another year of maturity has been a big reason for his incredibly robust stat line across the board. His continued commitment to being aggressive and keeping plays alive are two others, as he is scoring 18.3 points and dishing out 2.6 assists to go with his 8.4 rebounds.
19. Dayne Prim, 6-5, C/F, Grandview, 2019, 8.2 rpg
This guy’s presence on the roster is one big reason why Grandview was the preseason No. 1 in Class 5A. The No. 4 player in the Prep Hoops Colorado 2019 rankings, Prim is living up to the preseason billing with 8.2 rebounds, 15.3 points, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
20. Malik Patton, 6-8, C, George Washington, 2019, 8.1 rpg
The George Washington statistics haven’t been updated on MaxPreps.com since the new year, but Patton was already showing well enough early to have made his mark. Through Dec. 21, he was averaging 9.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and an even two blocks a night.
