With conference play underway, let’s take a look at the 11th- through 15th-leading assist men in Colorado’s Class 5A.
11. RaShawn Wilson, 6-0, G, Denver East, 2021, 4.9 apg
It’s a sophomore stat-stuffer who leads the third portion of this list. So far in 2018-19, Wilson is dishing out 4.9 assists per night for the Angels while scoring 10.2 points and averaging 2.9 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game. Did we mention he’s just a sophomore?
12. Mark O’Neill, 6-1, G, Fairview, 2020, 4.9 apg
An active playmaker for a Knights club that has posted a strong 14-4 thus far, O’Neill has a fine athletic pedigree and is the latest in a line of O’Neills to shine at Fairview. As a junior, he’s averaging 8.1 points, 4.9 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals a night for the eighth-ranked Knights.
13. Payton Kaiser, 6-1, P, Vista Ridge, 2019, 4.8 apg
A three-sport athlete who plays basketball, baseball and football. Through 17 games this winter, he 6-foot-1 post has averaged nearly five assists per game and is scoring 15.1 points and grabbing 4.0 rebounds a night for his team.
14. Kenny Foster, 6-5, G, Smoky Hill, 2019, 4.7 apg
The No. 1-ranked 2019 player in the Prep Hoops Colorado rankings, Foster is most well known for his scoring. On top of leading the state in scoring at 27.3 points per game, he’s averaging 10.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.8 blocks a night.
15. Grant Wilkinson, 6-2, Pine Creek, G, 2019, 4.2 apg
One of several versatile players on the Pine Creek roster, Wilkinson is averaging 15.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.2 steals per game. Also a talented baseball player, the Eagles senior brings a lot to whatever team and playing surface he is on.
