With conference play underway, let’s take a look at Colorado Class 5A’s sixth through 10th assist leaders.
6. TJ Boykins, 5-7, PG, Douglas County, 2019, 5.5 apg
Off to an excellent start to his senior season, Boykins is averaging 5.5 dimes a night. He’s also scoring 14.7 points and coming up with a steal per night at the defensive end. The senior point guard shoots 42 percent from the field and has been shooting the 3-ball at a 33-percent clip this winter.
7. Eric Kimmell, 5-10, PG, Mountain Vista, 2019, 5.4 apg
The Golden Eagles have been a pleasant surprise this season and Kimmell is among the reasons why Mountain Vista has claimed a spot among the top teams in Colorado. He’s averaging 5.4 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals to keep his team on track.
8. Jaylen Eikenberg, 5-10, PG/SG, Rock Canyon, 2019, 5.2 apg
Scoring 14.4 points per game, Eikenberg does a lot more than that for his team. The Jaguars are 12-4 and much of that success depends on their 5-foot-10 point guard averaging 5.2 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 steals a night.
9. Brady Parris, 5-11, PG/SG, Mullen, 2019, 5.1 apg
Here’s another guy who has a knack for impacting the game without putting the ball in the hoop himself. A bouncy player with good size at 5-foot-11, Parris has great court vision that allows him to average 5.1 assists a night. He also rebounds well and when he does shoot the ball, Parris makes 35 percent of his 3-point shots.
10. Hezekiah Swanson, 5-11, PG/SG, Overland, 2020, 5.0 apg
What a balanced player this kid is. So far in 2018-19, he’s averaging 12.5 points, 5.0 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 steals each time he takes the court. Swanson accounts for plenty of offense by setting up his teammates but also makes 41 percent of his 3-point shot attempts.
