With conference play underway, let’s take a look at the leading rebounders in Colorado’s Class 4A.
6. Antonio Rodriguez, 6-2, G/F, Pueblo Centennial, 2019, 8.9 rpg
Immediately following his teammate Brandon Solano on this list, Rodriguez is averaging 8.9 boards a game while sharing rebounding duties with Solano, who is averaging 9.0 a night. Rodriguez is also active on the defensive end, coming up with an average of 3.4 steals to go with his team-high 18.9 points per game.
7. Tayvis Sagrillo Smiley, 6-4, W/F, Littleton, 2020, 8.9 rpg
Still a long but slender junior, he has plenty of upside yet to tap into and is still coming down with 8.9 rebounds per game. Sagrillo Smiley uses his length to also put up 13.7 points and 2.1 blocks.
8. Austin Robison, 6-5, PF, Skyline, 2020, 8.8 rpg
A two-sport standout, it remains unclear whether his athletic future will be on the football field or basketball court. But since it’s winter, Robison is averaging 8.8 rebounds and is scoring 15.2 points a night while utilizing an impressively versatile skill set for a big-bodied forward.
9. Hunter Lane, 6-4, C, Denver North, 2019, 8.2 rpg
At 6-foot-4, Lane is doing double duty this season to the tune of 8.2 rebounds and 8.9 points per game. Close to averaging a double-double, Lane has done it all without attempting a single 3-pointer all season.
10. Joe Padula, 6-4, C, Pueblo East, 2019, 8.1 rpg
Also a player for Pueblo East’s ultra-successful football team, Padula’s athleticism transfers well to the basketball court. At 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, he’s more than holding his own in the paint with 8.3 points and 8.1 rebounds a night.
