With conference play underway, let’s take a look at the leading rebounders in Colorado’s Class 4A.
1. Joe Lombardelli, 6-4, F/C, Northridge, 2019, 10.1 rpg
A multi-sport standout at Northridge, Lombardelli just seems to do whatever it takes to help his team win. In a down year for the Northridge basketball team, he’s averaging 10.1 rebounds. The senior is also scoring 23 points a game and brining 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocks to the Grizzlies’ efforts in 2018-19.
2. Javonte Johnson, Cheyenne Mountain, 6-6, SF, 2020, 10.0 rpg
Anyone shooting 36 percent (20 for 56) from 3-point range and still rebounding at a 10.0 per-night average is clearly a versatile player. Johnson is also among Colorado’s top scorers – averaging 26.1 points per game – and uses his 6-foot-6 length at the defensive end to collect 1.6 steals per game.
3. Mac Riniker, 6-5, G/F, Steamboat Springs, 2019, 9.6 rpg
Reeling in 9.6 rebounds a night is just one of the ways Riniker leads for the Sailors, who are currently 12-3 on the season. He’s also averaging 18.8 points, 4.7 assists, 3.2 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.
4. Chandler Williams, 6-7, PF/C, Regis Groff, 2020, 9.5 rpg
Helping the Fusion play its way onto the map in Colorado, Williams has assumed the role of owning the paint in 2018-19. He’s not only pulling down 9.5 rebounds a game, but also blocks 1.5 shots a night for Regis Groff while scoring 7.2 points.
5. Brandon Solano, 6-1, F, Pueblo Centennial, 2020, 9.0 rpg
On a team that employs a deep rotation, Solano is the Bulldogs’ leading rebounder a 9.0 per game. He does an excellent job of rebounding at the offensive end, where he has grabbed 53 of his 108 total rebounds. Following many of his offensive rebounds with trips to the free-throw line, Solano is averaging 15 points over his last two games.
