With conference play underway, let’s take a look at the leading rebounders in Colorado’s Class 4A.
11. Jax Wilke, 6-6, 2019, Mead, PF/C, 7.9 rpg
Already signed to Chadron State, Wilke is the centerpiece of a very talented and deep Mead basketball team. Not only is the 6-foot-8 post grabbing 7.9 boards a night, he is also averaging 14.0 points per game in his senior season.
12. Justin Graham, 6-5, F, Air Academy, 2019, 7.8 rpg
What’s not to like about a 6-foot-5 forward who nearly averages a double-double with 12.7 points and 7.8 rebounds. How about one who also averages 2.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.2 blocks per game? That’s Graham.
13. Blake Schell, 5-11, G, Green Mountain, 2020, 7.6 rpg
Also his team’s leading scorer with 15.1 points a game, Schell is very active when he’s on the floor. On top of grabbing 7.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals a night as a guard, he shoots 41 percent from 3-point range.
14. Zeke Van Tuyl, 6-8, C, Wheat Ridge, 2019, 7.6 rpg
At 6-foot-8, 280 pounds, Van Tuyl is a force in the paint and has good instincts for positioning and timing when it comes to rebounding. As a senior, he is averaging 7.6 rebounds and 8.0 points per game despite a free-throw average that needs to improve.
15. Kyle Helbig, 6-4, G/F, Holy Family, 2019, 7.5 rpg
A star tight end prospect headed to Colorado State next season, Helbig is no slouch on the basketball court either. Through 14 games of his senior season, he is averaging 14.4 points, 1.2 assists and 7.5 rebounds for the No. 3-ranked Holy Family Tigers.
