With conference play underway, let’s take a look at the 6th- through 10th-leading rebounders in Colorado’s Class 3A.
6. Andray Thomas Jr., 6-1, SG/PG, DSST: Stapleton, 2019, 10.8 rpg
A 6-foot-1, 167-pound guard, Thomas has to work hard to rebound the ball at his current pace. He also scores 18.2 points per game and averages 2.4 steals and 3.6 assists per night, and produces those scoring numbers while attempting only 27 long-range shots through 13 games.
7. Adontre Thompson, 6-4, F, Manual, 2019, 10.5 rpg
Teammate Jaedon Bowles garners most of the headlines when it comes to Manual boys hoops this season but Thompson has done more than his share of the work in guiding the Thunderbolts to a 10-2 record this winter. For the No. 2-ranked team in Class 3A, Thompson is using his length, strength and explosiveness to average 10.5 rebounds, 15.1 points and 1.2 steals per game.
8. Cayden Mazurek, 6-2, F, Riverdale Ridge, 2021, 9.8 rpg
For the new-school program at Riverdale Ridge, having a sophomore like Mazurek is a blessing. So far in 2018-19, he’s averaging 9.8 rebounds and scoring 14.9 points per game. Mazurek is also blocking 1.4 shots and coming up with 1.9 steals per game. He will be a player to watch moving forward, especially if he continues to grow.
9. James Doyle, 6-5, F, Kent Denver, 2019, 9.6 rpg
One of the top scorers in Colorado’s Class 3A, Doyle is averaging an incredible 24.2 points per game. He’s also averaging 2.9 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.8 blocks to go along with the 9.6 nightly rebounds that landed him in the top 10 on this list.
10. Ivan Torres, 6-5, F, Strive Prep – Smart, 2021, 9.5 rpg
The second sophomore to crack Class 3A’s top rebounding top 10, Torres has been a force in the paint so far in 2018-19. Not only is he averaging 9.5 rebounds and 10.6 points, he’s blocking 2.2 shots per night for his team as it has been struggling a bit through the early portion of this winter.
