Preston came into last nights game on a 13 game winning streak. Century was on a winning streak of their own winning their last 4 games. At the end of the night it was Century who came away with their streak intact winning the game 52-44 and snapping an 8 game losing streak to Preston.
5 TAKEAWAYS FROM THE GAME
(2019) Max Rogers is one of the BEST in Idaho
At 6’7″ Rogers is as smooth as they come. He is really good at drawing his defender out on the perimeter and beating them off the dribble to score. He is also able to score on the block going either direction. Rogers is very good at getting position for rebounds and blocking shots on defense. He is able to influence the game on both ends of the court. He ended the night with 14 points. He never takes a play off. He is fun to watch.
Century’s tough defense contributed to Preston’s Low Scoring
Century came out from the beginning playing very tough defense. They made it very difficult for Preston to get the ball into the post and contested every shot from the perimeter. Preston had one of its lowest offensive outputs of the year only scoring 44 points for its third lowest point total this year. They came into the game averaging 64.1 points per game. On the night Preston only shot 27.9% from the field. Century’s defense was the difference in the game.
Play of the Game
With 2:40 left in the game Century stole the ball and (2019) Max Rogers got free and was able to ignite the crowd with a two handed dunk to put the finishing touches on the victory for Century. Rogers also had a great play as the first quarter ended when he was able to tip in a miss at the buzzer giving Century a spark.
Fouls were a factor in the game
Each team had their fair share of fouls called through the night. They combined for 40 fouls for the game. Both teams were in the double bonus early in the first half. At different points of the game each team had key players who had to sit out for foul trouble making it difficult to get a flow going. Down the stretch Century made more of its foul shots then Preston did helping them pull ahead.
Whats Next
Both teams have tough games coming up on Wednesday. Century who is 12-4 on the season and 8-2 in district play travels the short distance to Highland to take on the Rams. Preston who is 16-2 on the season and 8-2 in conference will travel to Minico. This should be a really good game.
