Names like Blake Griffin, Josh Richardson, Stephen Clark, Xavier Henry, Obi Muenelo, Omega Harris and Trae Young have all competed in the Classic and in its 59th year, there’s a full pool of talented teams and players set to compete yet again.
6A #1: Edmond Santa Fe (9-0)
Santa Fe is undefeated and is a definite favorite in Class 6A right now. They have a plethora of talent from their frontcourt to their backcourt. Watch for Jaylen O’Connor and Donovan Vickers, who is the engine for this Wolves team.
6A UNRANKED: Choctaw (0-8)
Haven’t gotten a chance to watch Choctaw play much this season and haven’t heard much about them but they feature a very young, competitive team that has gained a ton of experience by playing some premier teams in 6A.
6A #12: Deer Creek (8-2)
Deer Creek is a bit of a surprise. They’ve had a very productive season thus far, led by their three-guard backcourt. The Antlers feature wins against Bishop McGuinness, Edmond North, and Southmoore. This tournament will be a big test for them.
6A #7: Norman North (6-3)
Two years removed from Trae Young, North has redefined its identity. They’ve won six games, but two of their three losses came from Edmond Memorial and Edmond North, their two toughest opponents of the season.
6A #2: Midwest City (9-0)
The Bombers are another team that will compete for a state title in Class 6A. They are packed with talent and have beaten nearly every team in decisive fashion. Midwest City’s largest margin of victory is 21 points.
6A UNRANKED: Norman (5-6)
Norman hasn’t gotten off to a good start. In their six losses, two came in blowouts to Edmond Memorial and Norman North. They’ve also blown out the OKC Knights, so this tournament will be defining for their season.
4A #15: Bishop McGuinness (5-2)
McGuinness’ record looks good on paper, but most of their wins thus far have come off easier opponents. Their losses, however, have come against competitive teams. So, what caliber of a team are the Irish? They will face reality while they host this tournament.
6a #5: Edmond Memorial (9-1)
Memorial is the middle child this year of the Edmond schools this year but also has a chance to compete for a 6A class title, just like Santa Fe and Midwest City. As the third team in this tournament that is ranked in 6A’s top 10, they have a chance to take not only the top spot in Edmond but could find themselves in the top tier of 6A’s top five.
