We will take a look at the top 10 4A rankings and discuss those top teams, while also predicting how the season will play out.
1. Shadow Mountain 9-1 (Moved up from #2 to #1)
2. Salpointe Catholic 6-0 (Moved down from #1 to #2)
3. Deer Valley 9-0 (No Change)
4. Buckeye Union 8-1 (No Change)
5. Seton Catholic Prep 6-2 (Moved up from #7 to #5)
6. Amphi 8-0 (Moved down from #5 to #6)
7. Peoria 8-1 (Moved down from #6 to #7)
8. Estrella Foothills 6-2 (No Change)
9. Palo Verde 8-1 (Moved up from #10 to #9)
10. Dysart 6-3 (New)
The New #1
Shadow Mountain has officially retaken their #1 spot in the 4A rankings. While they were sitting at #2 for a little bit, I don’t think anyone ever looked at them as anything but the best team in 4A. I would be very shocked in Shadow Mountain fell from #1 throughout the rest of the season. Look for SM to remain at #1 and be the heavy favorites for the title.
The Next Best 3
Shadow Mountain is most likely going to win the state title, they just have too much talent on their roster and have been absolutely demolishing teams. However, if Shadow Mountain is going to be beaten, I think it is going to be one of these following teams: Salpointe, Deer Valley, and Buckeye Union. I think Deer Valley has the best chance of beating Shadow Mountain out of anyone in 4A. I think Salpointe has a moderate chance of beating Shadow Mountain, they showed last year that they could compete with them for the first 3 quarters at least. I think Buckeye has a very slight chance of beating Shadow Mountain at this point unless Isaiah Marin comes in and makes a huge difference. If Marin comes in and has a great season, I would like their chances a lot.
