He finished with a total of 18 points but 10 of those came in the 4th quarter after they entered the 4th down by 1. He was all over the glass on both ends and could not be stopped under the rim. He also was scoring when he was fouled which ultimately came up huge down the stretch as it was his free throws that separated them from Sidwell.
“It really just started with the team, like they fouled me and they just made the right passes for me which just made it easy for me and then when it came I just hit down the shots,” said Hayes.
He likes the approach his St. Andrew’s team has had this year and said this season has been going well.
“It has been going really well, I think I have been solid defensively and I have been trying to score while being more aggressive and just really fit into the offense but really it starts on defense.”
Hayes is a guy that brings a lot of energy, he can strap up and play good defense, he can hit the midrange, he does a good job of getting his teammates involved by making the extra pass and gets rebounds on both sides of the ball. All of this solidifies him as a solid low to mid major prospect.
This past summer he ran with with Team Thrill on the UAA circuit and enjoyed the process, “I played with Team Thrill on the UAA circuit so that went well, it got me a lot of experience and exposure and also a lot of looks and it really brought into my game to see where it is at.”
There are a pair of local schools keeping tabs on him in Towson and UMBC and he broke both of them down for us.
Towson: “They have been talking to me, they want me to expand my game, get more shots from the three-point line.”
UMBC: “ “They also want me to get my outside game better and be more aggressive.”
