In a game where the Ravens trailed by as much as 19 points in the second quarter, Alonso improved to 18-3 and picked up its 10 straight victory.
Here are five takeaways from the game.
Cavalier comes up clutch
2019 Alonso guard Sager Cavalier recorded 18 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter alone. The senior went to the rack often with eight free throws in the final two quarters of play. The Ravens set Cavalier up in good spots down low and it paid off. He was on the floor for nearly the whole night and was the best pure attacker in the game.
Tech’s tempo works well
Tampa Bay Tech has all the speed and agility you covet. 2019 forward Gavin Antoine had endless energy for the Titans with 15 points, including four dunks in the opening half. He was one of many athletes that got it going as the other pieces shot the ball well over the first three quarters of play.
Gooden and Findlay get going
2019 guards DJ Gooden and Kamalii Findlay each scored 11 points for the Ravens. Gooden was a huge asset in this one with plenty of drives to the hoop and good movement on the break. Findlay gutted it out after suffering an apparent ankle injury in the third quarter. He also got smacked in the nose and came out briefly. Even at less than 100 percent healthwise, Findlay battled and proved to be a key player down the stretch as a passer and rebounder.
Cexil and Robertson handled it
2019 guards Jamarcus Robertson (15 points)and David Cexil (17 points) each made a splash offensively for Tampa Bay Tech. Robertson was shooting well especially in the second half with nine points. Cexil was electric in the second quarter with 11 points of his own including two straight 3’s. The senior duo carry the load for the Titans.
Alonso never quits
It didn’t shock me to see Alonso earn this win. Tampa Bay Tech went up early and did plenty of damage, but the Ravens never panicked on the way to picking up yet another quality victory on the season. Alonso is hard to stop when the game matters most. The Ravens are disciplined and are built for a playoff run.
