After a 30-30 game at half, Coffman was able to pull away and win 72-66. A 16 point performance from four star point guard Dom Penn, a big bench boost from 2020 guard Keaton Turner were key for Coffman.
Unstoppable all night for Pickerington North was 2021 F Jack Sawyer tallying 22 points and eight rebounds. Idris Lawrence added 16 for the Panthers.
5 Takeaways From Tonight
Dublin Coffman Is A Legit Contender
When the Rocks are clicking on all cylinders, they can go to battle with any team. When you think of the Central District this year, Dublin Coffman has to be in there. At 8-0 on the season, with no looks of slowing down. An impressive win on the road over Pickerington North could open more eyes on how good the Dominq Penn led Coffman really is.
Dublin Coffman Is Great Offensively
With a starting five loaded with next level players it comes at no surprise. The three-headed monster of Dom Penn, Luke Bartemes and Derek Van Vlerah are one of the best in the state. All strong scorers, they lead this Dublin team as one of the best offenses in the state. If sixth man Keaton Turner always plays like tonight, they’ll be that much stronger.
Dom Penn Is Going To Be Really Good By The Time Senior Year Rolls Around
Already one of the better lead guards in the area, Dom Penn could take his game to another level real soon. A quick first step that the junior possesses is impressive. The capability to put the ball on the string and scorch the net from about anywhere are strength of Penn’s. Adding a little size and getting stronger will make the six-foot Penn virtually unguardable through his senior year.
Jack Sawyer Is A Two Sport Stud
Easily the best forward I have seen this year, Sawyer isn’t just a force on the football field. The ability to rise above on the 15-foot turnaround is Sawyer’s go to. A force on the boards with a strong 6’5 frame, the Sophomore won’t be out hustled either. A legit division one prospect in both sports is exactly what Pickerington North has on it’s hands.
Idris Lawrence Is A Player To Watch Out For
Coming into Thursday’s game I knew just a little background on Idris, I left empressed. Scoring 16 points, 14 in the fourth, the sophomore guard can fill it up in a hurry. The leader of the Panthers comeback attempt had it going. Scoring from all lengths of the court he couldn’t be stopped. This may have been the break out game for the young Lawrence.
