The Tigers struggled with the Seahawks ball pressure and not getting back in transition defense from the start. The Seahawks built a 41-23 heading into halftime.
The Tigers battled back I nthe 3rd quarter with 6 quick points to make it 41-29 on back to back baskets by Allen Williamson. Williamson would end up scoring 18 points in the 3rd quarter alone to cut the lead to 56-49. The Seahawks held the lead at 67=64 with 51.1 seconds when things turned around. The Tigers connected on to three pointers in the final 10 seconds of the game by Williamson and Deshawn Brackett. Brackett hit the game winner from the corner with no time on the clock to give the Tigers a 70-69 win on the road.
MVP : Allen Williamson (2019) – Wilson HS (Florence) (pictured on front)
Williamson really stepped up in the 3rd quarter for the Tigers by scoring 18 points of his final 27 points. Williamson connected on 4 three pointers and ignited the comeback on the road for the Tigers. Williamson plays a bit of a old school game and won’t overwhelm you at all with athleticism. Williamson is a crafty scorer and he can knockdown shots on the perimeter.
Play of the Game : Deshawn Brackett (2019) – Wilson HS (Florence)
Brackett was in the right place at the right time for the Tigers to nail the game winner. Brackett finished with 8 points but those last 3 points of the night were the difference.
Mr. Hustle Award : James Marques (2020) – Myrtle Beach HS
Marques was in the passing lanes and on the floor for loose balls all night long. Marques would slowly creep out in transition and score on several transition layups tonight. Marques is constantly around the ball and is like a energizer bunny with extreme effort at all times.
Welcome Back : Darius Boatwright (2019) – Wilson HS (Florence)
Boatwright made a great impression on Tigers fan in his debut last night. Boatwright 6’7 was out the first semester after transferring over from nearby Dillon HS. Boatwright finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds in the win for the Tigers. Boatwright still shaking off some rust will be a great addition for the tigers heading into the 2nd half of the region schedule.
Best Junior : Emorie Knox (2020) – Myrtle Beach HS
Knox coming off a 32 point game vs Hartsville HS the other night had 19 points in the game tonight. Knox a point guard for the Seahawks is extremely quick end to end with the ball in his hand. Knox has the ability to turn the corner and blast off in the open court.
Wilson HS 70 – Williamson 27 points, Boatwright 13 points, Brackett 8 points, Maine Gibson 7 points and Ziohn Brown 6 points (Brown left the game with 3:10 left in the 3rd quarter and didn’t return. Brown looked to have a broken finger.
Myrtle Beach HS 69 – Knox 19 points, Ayden Hickman 12 points, James Marques 10 points, Darius Hough 8 points TJ Austin 7 points, Daron Finkley 6 points and John Emory Pruett 5 points.
