Most Varsity players arrive at their opponents school and are able to slowly get their legs back as they watch their lower level teams play. Wasatch Academy which played a game in Southern California at Cerritos College Saturday against a tough Santa Monica team then made it’s way to Las Vegas to play the #2 team in the state of Nevada.
1.Resilience
When you’re down 28-41 on the road it’s difficult, let alone in another state. Clark HIgh School has been a basketball power in the state of Nevada for sometime now. They have three D1 players on their roster. The match-up between Frankie Collins and Mike Saunders was epic.Wasatch Academy ended the game on a 24-7 run and Mikey Saunders hit the game winner. To be the best you have to be resilient. Wasatch is ready to take on the best in Florida now with some extra resilience.
2.Taking Over
Wasatch Academy has the luxury of having multiple players take over. Their consistent scoring from multiple players makes them difficult to game plan for. The Tigers have 5 players scoring in double figures. Mike Saunders in the open court is dangerous. Their length is something else.
3.On to the Next One
Although a great win against Clark (NV) or even Santa Margarita (CA) might mean a lot to some programs, not to Wasatch Academy. It is on to the next one. They have no time to enjoy a victory because they’re chasing something else, something more mythical than a State Championship. Wasatch Academy wants a National Championship.
