Here are some of the better individual matchups we could end up seeing:
Friday:
8:30 p.m., Jake Kyman and Max Agbonkpolo (Santa Margarita) vs. Christian Brown and Cole Anthony (Oak Hill Academy)
Kyman (bound for UCLA) and Agbonkpolo (a future USC Trojan) are terrific offensive players. Brown and Anthony are unsigned. Brown was outstanding Saturday night at the HoopHall in Springfield, MA but Anthony has missed a couple of games with a reported ankle injury.
Saturday:
3, D.J. Rodman (PICTURED) and Ian Martinez (San Juan Capistrano JSerra) vs. vs. Chibuzo Agbo and Luke Haupt (San Diego St. Augustine).
Rodman is among the better unsigned seniors in SoCal and Martinez is one of the best 2020 shooting guards in the West; Agbo and Haupt are the two best 2020 prospects in San Diego County.
4:30, Giordan Williams, Justin Rene and Malik Salahuddin (Long Beach Poly) vs. Ethan Anderson, Robert McRae and Ron Mitchell (Fairfax).
A matchup of two of the most terrific groups of perimeter players in California.
6, Isaiah Cottrell (Bishop Gorman) vs. Onyeka Okongwu (Chino Hills).
A matchup of a Las Vegas kid who could be a McDonald’s AA in 2020 and the best power forward in the country who SHOULD have been a 2019 McDonald’s AA.
7:30, Mason Hooks (Harvard-Westlake) vs. Wilhelm Breidenbach (Mater Dei).
Two of the best underclass “bigs” in the west in 2020 Hooks and 2021 Breidenbach could battle in what could one of the best games of the event.
